Using APPLAUSER
with OBS Studio

APPLAUSER can be integrated with almost any broadcast software via a screen capture of a web browser. Below are instructions for use with OBS Studio.

Where can I download OBS Studio?

OBS Studio is a powerful broadcasting/streaming software that’s best feature (in our opinion) is that it’s completely free to use. You can download the software for PC, Mac, or Linux on the project’s website. If you’re totally new to using software like this and want some help to get started you can watch this tutorial video.

Does it work with my webcam?

Yes, you can use your webcam and overlay the reactions on top. In OBS Studio, select your “Scene,” then under “Sources” click the plus sign to add a new source. From that list, select “Video Capture Device,” give it a name, and then choose your webcam from the dropdown menu. Make sure your reactions layer is the top layer in “Sources” or your webcam might hide it from view.

How does my audience get their APPLAUSER code?

There are a number of ways you can get your virtual audience to applauser.app and have them enter your event code. The link and code can be included in a pre-show email to your attendees and/or you could design a pre-show “slide” with all the information included. OBS Studio can also display this image in your feed.

Will this work with all web browsers?

APPLAUSER is compatible with all up-to-date web browsers and computer systems. We always recommend thoroughly testing your specific setup before using it for a live show or event. If you encounter a problem with a specific browser or platform, please contact us with the support form below.

Is APPLAUSER mobile-friendly?

The APPLAUSER interface for your audience members is built specifically to be used on mobile web browsers. The Producer Display page should be run on a computer also running broadcast software (like OBS Studio).

Can I use different emojis or reactions?

There are over 200 reactions/animations currently available by request and customization. The standard APPLAUSER interface provides six by default. If you’re interested in other options, please use the support form to contact us.
